Q) What is music?
A) Click a sample or a track you like the sound of (no pun intended) you will soon find out my friend and it may just change your life forever.

Q) Why do I need to register?
A) It means that we can make our homepage as personal to you as we can, so we can say hello and keep track of you (note: not in the big brother sense). Finally it helps us get to know you better so we can send you relevant info on cool new releases and dandy download offers but if you’re ‘cool’ enough without us, which from previous knowledge we have found to be fairly rare, then you can choose not to receive our dazzling updates.

Q) How do I register?
A) Click on the shiny red button saying ‘My account’ (no not mine, yours), then select ‘create new account’, then follow the straightforward online instructions....the computer knows best. We won’t require your life history or your back pocket wallet on registering but if you’re the ‘generous’ type then feel free to fill us in.

Q) What payment methods can I use?
A) Like most people we’re not particularly fussy when it comes to exchanging money, as long as it’s not ours.

Ring our premium rate number on 0870...and enter your code no e.g. 6759 and we will credit you, however unlike many other sneaky premium rate numbers; ours does not exist to stitch you up. Your call will cost £1.50, your Datz account will be credited with £1.50 so in that case we’re even stevens. However we can’t vouch for your mobile network not adding a few extra pennies to your call, so fix up, look sharp.

Lastly you may purchase an E-Voucher online and this will be credited to your account, just follow the simple ‘Simon says’ instructions online.

A) Duh......iTunes of course! Well actually Datz is two timing her; she didn’t offer all the services which Datz has become so accustomed to, it just didn’t work, chalk and cheese so to speak.

Q) How do I view my account details?
A) Simply log onto your account and click on ‘modify your account details’ this is a lovely file we’ve got and it’s all about YOU. It’s here where you read all about yourself (not that you’re full of self-importance or anything). Same place, same time you can update us to inform us when you decide to change your name or more reasonably your email address.  

Q) What do I need to download successfully?
A) You will need a PC that is running Windows XP and Windows Media Player version 10 or above.

A) Every bit of information you let us get our dirty little hands on we kindly encrypt using secure socket software (SSL) which basically means that your information cannot be read by anyone else during transmission. So information you give to us, stays with us. We’re respectful like that.

Q) Is my information kept private?
A) Your details will not be passed onto third parties; check our Privacy Policy to be reassured.

Q) Is it Legal to download music from Datz?
A) We don’t like to misbehave or upset the higher authorities without due cause. So yes, Datz is 100% legal and virus free.

Q) Why am I reading FAQ’s when I don’t have a question that needs answering?
A) You obviously have far too much time on your hands and need to ‘get a life’, so start with downloading some songs to get your reputation moving the right way up and you’ll soon find yourself with more exciting things to fill your time

Q) How long does it take to download music?
A) It depends what modem you use at home, if you’re still using a dial up connection, you might end up getting impatient but if you’ve caught up with the rest of us and have a broadband connection then it should be fast as a cheetah, well close.

Q) How do I change my password?
A) Log onto your account, view your personal details, click ‘edit personal details’ then simply click ‘change password’ enter a new fancy memorable password and then save it. Simple as.

A) We don’t normally do sell by dates as our products don’t appear to go stale, so feel free to use them as and when you please, but check the T & C’s if in doubt.

A) As far as the North is from the South, we’ve searched high and low and have got music from hundreds of labels, including the big boys on the block, EMI, Sony, BMG and Universal. ‘New releases’ is the place to kick back if you want to reside in the company of the next big thing.

A) “Oh my, haven’t you grown”

Q) MP3s/WMAs, let’s talk compatibility?
A) We’ve got it all, both MP3’s and WMA’s so check that you are buying the correct type of download you require, save any hassle later. If you wish to use a different player then you can manually import them into your player, Real-player is compatible with both MP3/WMA, to import files go to File>Add files to my library>find your music folder and click on the song you want adding and it will automatically be added to your library. However you cannot copy these songs onto your portable media player because they are rights protected, however there are some naughty people out there with the ‘know how’ to convert protected WMA to MP3, but of course we won’t be divulging such information. See forums to learn more about converting MP3 files to WMA, note you will come across the same issue when converting WMA to MP3 in iTunes. Datz will deliver the license that governs the number of times that you can burn or transfer a track on download.

Q) Do you have any free music?
A) So you’ve heard the famous saying “no such thing as a free lunch" well we don’t deal in food so they’d be right, but if they said “there’s no such thing as a free Datz download" they’d be wrong. We like to give you something for nothing however we don’t give sweets to strangers, so first and foremost you need to register and become our friend so that we know to include you in all these amazing offers, now what’s stopping you.

Q) How do I use a promotional voucher?
A) So you’ve been given a promotional voucher and want to get your grubby hands on some free music, we don’t blame you. You simply put in the voucher code in the music voucher box on the top right hand side and then press ‘Offer includes’ this will then show you the songs available for download (these may vary depending on promotion). Alternatively, if the promotion is by a specific supplier and you only want to search singles distributed by this supplier, you can go to advanced search, choose your supplier, tick the ‘single’ box and then all songs on view will be ones inclusive of the offer.  The final step simply involves pressing buy on the tracks you want, they will then be added to your basket, from here follow the simple checkout instructions (no bank details needed) and then your download will automatically start downloading for your use, hey presto. 

Q) How do I search for music I like?
A) Click on the genre you must comfortably fit into, e.g. pop. If you want to get specific on us, then just use the advanced search tool and type the artist or song title into the bar and this will bring up everything it finds and past knowledge suggests like a dog to a bone, it’ll get just what you want. You can then listen to a preview of the track or add it to your basket.

Q) How do I play sample tracks?
A) Simply hit the ‘play clip’ button and it will automatically start to play, I’m afraid samples are simply that, a quick 30 seconds snippet; if it’s not long enough, go ahead and buy it (we’re sure you deserve it).

Q) How do I buy a track or album?
A) You need to register and then log in, then hit the buy button and follow the transaction instructions, that’ll put a smile on our face.

Downloads
Q) How do I download?
A) Select the track you have you eyes on, go to checkout and then your tracks will automatically start to download, once the download it complete, you’ll be prompted to simply save the track to a folder in your chosen location on your PC, usually in your ‘My music’ folder, but your wish is our desire….then just open the file and it’ll play automatically.

Q) What format will my download be?
A) It’ll either be in MP3s, WMAs- (Windows Media Audio) file format protected with Windows Media DRM. Check your player and the track format info before you download to check compatibility; otherwise it’ll just be another one of those square peg in a round hole situations.

Q) I’ve forgotten my password?
A) You silly billy, don’t beat yourself up about it though; it happens to the best of us. On the login section on the homepage there is a ‘recover details’ link, from here click on the link which states 'Forgotten your details?', then follow the online instructions and type in your email address; your password will then automatically be emailed to you, so you'll never be out of action for too long.

A) Kangaroo songs are very rare, let us apologise for the inconvenience, drop us an email with the track name and artist and we’ll sort it out and re-credit you so you can re-download.

A) We guarantee success if you follow our step by step guide:
1) Have a regular shave/wash/grooming session for a week prior to going out on the town
2) Pick an outfit which oozes sophistication or shows off your best assets

Q) My payment is not being accepted?
A) Please check that your payment method is accepted by DATZ. If you continue to experience problems, it’s possibly not our fault; next call of action is to contact your card issuer. If they tell you there’s no problem, then come back to us and we’d be happy to find a solution

Q) My track has not downloaded to my PC?
A) Please check the directory on your PC where you store your downloads. They are usually saved in either ‘My Music’ or your ‘Shared Music Folder’. If you cannot find it run a general system search from ‘My Computer’ using the artist or track name. If you are unable to accomplish this then you can re-download it from your account- it will be listed under purchase history, however a 72 hour expiry exists on this function, so this option may not always be available.  Sorry all very boring computer speak.

Q) I cannot find any music by....?
A) If you are having no luck finding an artist or track, then please contact us and we’ll get it uploaded onto Datz, here’s hoping we will be granted more luck in finding it. Don’t think you're being a nuisance; we value your expansive musical knowledge because ours is limited (even though we think we’re music guru’s).

A) Firstly congrats for being involved in one of the best promotions ever known to man. So now to get your song, select a song of your choice, the tracks available to download may depend on the promotion but tracks inclusive of the promotion will be clearly marked, go to the shopping basket and checkout and select the ‘pay by promotional voucher’ option and then simply enter your code. Job done, enjoy!

Q) Where are my tracks downloaded to?
A) The location for your tracks is decided by you when you purchase the music; the most popular route is to save music to My Music or your Shared music file. You may already use Windows Media etc or may wish to automatically upload it to your player which you can do so once it has uploaded successfully to your PC.

Q) How can I play my music?
A) So you thought this would be the easy part, well it is pretty easy, basically it depends on the format of the song/album you’ve downloaded. If it’s a WMA song most folks tend to use Windows media player and if you're using MP3s most use iTunes...play around, see what works.

Q) Will my hair go curly if I eat crusts?
A) If you know the answer to ‘will the tooth fairy come and give me money if my tooth comes out?’ it’s probably the same...

Q) Is my download protected by anything?
A) Your WMA downloads are protected by software called Windows Media DRM (digital rights management). However MP3s are not protected. This doesn’t limit you though you can still burn music to CD and transfer tracks to a compatible portable device, no worries.

Q) Is it wrong to talk in riddles?
A) No it is rather clever and is a perfect tool to confuse people into thinking that you’re more brainy and poetic than you actually are...always a bonus

Q) Can I burn my tracks onto CD?
A) By all means, make a nice compilation for your friend, Dad or Aunty Jean. See ‘format info’ on track details to find out your copy limits.
